Second update: Was that a scam?

True to their word, yesterday I recieved the push down drain from Riobel. Wow that was fast. I got it the day after they emailed me and told me they would send it. I'm impressed. So, Lokert Ltd Burlington, UP YOURS!

Update: Was that a scam?

I have heard from Riobel and they have chosen to honor providing the replacement set. You know, things do happen and even in the most reputable of products sometimes something is faulty. Kudos to Riobel for excellence in customer service. I definately will by Riobel products again, they are fabulous. However, I will never again deal with Lokert-Ltd in Burlington and will never recommend them to anyone else.

Was that a scam?

If any of you have ever renovated a room in your home, particularly the kitchen or bathroom you know how much of a challenge it can be to organize all the things that need to go into your new room. Flooring, Cabinetry, fixtures and the ever popular plumbing. It definitely helps to have a supplier of your plumbing fixtures that knows everything you need to make your toilet, your sink, bathtub and shower work without problems. They need to be informative, knowledgeable of their products and need to be supportive of their customer should there be any issues. Lokert Ltd- Bathroom Gallery in Burlington definitely does not embody any of those characteristics.
In renovating my bathroom I have been working with them to provide all the plumbing and fixtures necessary for my new bath. We gutted the whole bathroom leaving only our jacuzzi tub in the room. I ordered through Burlington Bathroom Gallery a brand new toilet, two vessel sinks, two beautiful Riobel faucets with two push down drains (They came separately from the faucets) and a matching Tub set.
So, problem number one in dealing with Lokert in Burlington, The tub set that I ordered was a 4 piece set, the faucet, two handles and a hand held wand. I didn't need the wand and was assured by the sales lady that my plumber could easily cap it off, only problem there was no cap included and the sales lady never informed me that I would need to order it separately and even told me to just pick one up at the local hardware store. I contacted Riobel who offered to send me the appropriate cap. This issue was resolved but it made me question whether or not the sales ladies knew their products.
This brings me to issue number two with Lokert Burlington. I came to a decision on what type of shower components I wanted in by new tiled shower and got a quote from Lokert on each of the components needed to put this together. An overhead rain shower head, 4 body jets installed into the tile wall, a handheld with bar and all the plumbing and accessories needed to properly install all this. I decided to test and make sure the sales ladies quoted on a complete shower system for me and took their quote to another plumbing supplier and sure enough, the ladies had missed a very important component to make my shower work proving that they did not know their products. Consequently, I ordered my shower components from the second supplier.
Now, the third and final issue I had with Lokert Burlington and incidentally the most serious came after my plumber came to install everything. My plumber installed the shower components perfectly, the two faucets went in without a hitch and then he started on the push down drains. The first one went in perfectly and when he installed the second one...... whoosh... leaked all over my new custom cabinetry which had not been stained and protected yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed that the wood is not ruined. My plumber removed the drain and set it aside as there was not much else he could do until it was replaced. I called down to Lokert and explained what had happened, they requested that my plumber call and clarify a few things which he did. I get a call back from Lokert saying no problem they will replace the drain.
I pack up all the parts of the drain that I had in the box that it came in and on Saturday my husband took the box in for the exchange. One of the sales ladies was in the middle of processing the exchange when another sales lady came in and told her to hold it for a second. Next thing my husband knew the Lokert's plumber comes out and tells my husband that he will not do the exchange because there was a piece missing, maybe the missing piece caused the leak? Of course an argument over this begins as it is not good customer policy to refuse to replace something that is faulty. Over the course of the argument the Lokert plumber then changed his reason for not making the exchange from missing pieces to my plumber broke the unit. This makes no sense whatsoever. Clearly, he had no valid reason for refusing to give us the replacement otherwise he would have stuck to one excuse, not a multitude.
This leaves me to wonder and hence the title of this blog. Could this have been a scam of convenience? Lokert Burlington has not only the defective unit to return to Riobel for a claim, they also now have a unit that they can sell and have an extra sale for free. I can think of no reasonable reason that the replacement unit that we were told we would get, and remember my plumber told them what happened, was not honored.
Final word of warning. I had three issues with this Lokert the third incident thus far is unresolved so I am minus a working sink. I have emailed Riobel to inform them what happened and see if they could help but so far I have not had any response. Will update you if I do hear from them. If you do not wish to go through what I went through, DON'T buy from Lokert Burlington.
